#BeBold2016 Linkup: Health & Wellness Goals for 2016

In case you missed the introductions, Be Bold 2016 is a linkup for bloggers to share their goals for the year and connect with other bloggers. Through this, we can all grow our blogging communities and find cheerleaders and accountability partners to help us own our goals and make 2016 bright and bold! Here are the prompts and linkup dates:

January 8: What’s your word or intention for the year?
January 15: What are your blogging goals for the year?
January 22: What are your health goals for the year?
January 29: What are your personal goals for the year?

My Health Goals for 2016

#BeBold2016 Linkup: Health & Wellness Goals for 2016

1. Try more outdoorsy forms of exercise

I’m talking about hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, paddleboarding, and all that jazz. I want my 2016 to be a little more adventurous, and in my mind these are adventurous things to do. Obviously I’ll have to wait until the summer to squeeze some of these in, but I imagine it’ll be a pretty epic summer if I do all of these!

2. Keep a health journal

I think one of the easiest ways to keep up with your health goals is to write everything down. I don’t want to be too obsessive about this or start writing down calories or my weight, but I want to track my workouts and meals better to see what’s working and what’s not.

3. Improve my yoga balances

I’ve been practicing my handstand for literally a year now, and I’ve only just managed to hold it for a few seconds without a wall behind me. It takes some serious practice, guys! Obviously I want to be able to hold it for longer, and the same thing goes for my crow, scorpion, and eight angle pose.

4. Take dance and trapeze classes

I’ve been talking about taking dance classes for years now, and I want 2016 to be the year it finally happens! I’ve also been really intrigued by trapeze and aerial tricks lately, and I think it would be super legit to take classes and most likely embarrass myself in the process.

5. Sit less

Sitting at a desk all day honestly drains the life out of you. I want to make sure I’m getting up, moving around, and stretching regularly during the work day to improve my posture and just make sure my body doesn’t hate me. Ya feel me?

Your Turn! What are your health goals?

  • Such great goals! I especially love your idea of getting out more. Definitely a goal for me as well!

  • Totally with you on more outdoorsy forms of exercise. So much easier in the spring and summer. I can’t wait to check out some of the awesome hikes around where I live. I’m trying to do yoga more often too! :)

  • All of your goals are amazing and I wish you a good luck :)

  • I love your goal of more outdoor exercise! My husband and I have kayaks, that haven’t seen much use over the last year or so. I would love to get them out – it is SUCH a great upper body workout, as well as relaxing :) We also live in an area where there are so many places to hike, it’s always nice to get exercise as well as some fresh air!

  • I’m right there with you Catherine with more outdoors stuff! When I said no to #GymGoals this year, I wanted to do physical activities that are good for the soul like spent more time outdoors and also do a outdoor yoga class! Love your list and wishing you good luck!

  • That’s awesome that you want to do more outdoor exercise!! Those kind of activities are so fun that it won’t feel like such a task! I will definitely be adding that to my list this year as well. :)

    • That’s totally what I’m thinking, Alison! I love any form of exercise that makes me forget it’s exercise haha

  • Okay I want to steal your outdoorsy exercise goals haha! I think I’ll be trying rock climbing in the next couple weeks and I would love to try kayaking again. It’s been forever! I’m loving the rest of your goals too. We should keep each other accountable for sitting less!

    • Haha you can totally steal it, Gina! I’ve done rock climbing before and even though I hate heights, it feels so good to get to the top!

  • These are great and totally achievable goals! I have a problem of choosing random goals with no plan haha. I just bought myself a jawbone up2 fitness tracker and its been making me move more.
    xx, Pia

    • Haha I mean random goals can be great too! I’ve never thought about getting a fitness tracker, but I bet that would definitely kick my butt into moving more lol

  • Love your goals! Health goals can be tricky to stick to, but yours all seem really manageable and actually fun! Good luck! :)

  • I love each and every one of these! Especially number 1! I’ve been trying to get outdoors while it is freezing cold. It is QUITE a challenge, let me tell you. You are going to be so HAPPY and healthy this 2016. If you need a dance/trapeze class buddy, let me know. I’ll take a trip. :)

    • Haha oh it really is a challenge! Even though the weather is pretty mild in Seattle right now, it’s just so much more fun to do that kind of stuff while it’s warm. And yes please, I would so love that!

Goals three and four are speaking to my soul – those are two things I really want to do as well! For the past few months I have been getting back into yoga regularly, but am still too much of a wuss to really go for more of the advanced poses. And dance/trapeze classes sound super fun – let me know if you find any good places to take classes!

    • I just reactivated my gym membership and I’m going to try and go to a yoga class once a week. I feel like an in-person class will make me more motivated! We should totally try trapeze classes together haha

      • Les @ The Balanced Berry

        Yes we totally should!

  • I love all of those goals, especially the get exercise outdoors and improving yoga balances! Those are two of my goals as well, and I wish you luck in achieving them!

  • Trapeze classes sound like so much fun! I would really love to learn how to do a downward facing dog with my feet flat on the ground, that would be so cool hehe. All the best sweetheart! xxxxx
