5 Soulful Quotes To Inspire A Positive Mindset
I often get asked from blog readers how I manage to stay positive when the going gets tough. I know this is something we all struggle with, and it can be difficult to see the bright side of life when you feel completely overwhelmed by everything.
I’m not going to lie to you and say that I’m a positive person 100% of the time because that just ain’t realistic, but I am a firm believer in the power of positive psychology and making a conscious effort to shift my mindset away from negativity.
The long and the short of it is that staying positive is all a matter of perspective. It’s knowing that what happens to you doesn’t matter as much as HOW you construct and interpret what happens to you.
Because this concept is so crucial for living a life of contentment, I wanted to share five of my favorite quotes that drop some serious wisdom on the cultivation of a positive mindset. Be sure to bookmark this post and come back to it whenever you need a dose of positivity!
“You already have everything you need.”
This is one of those profound quotes that really makes you think about all of the blessings in your life. If you make it a habit to live from a place of abundance and realize that you don’t need anything physical or materialistic to make you happy, you will be able to cultivate a sense of contentment every single day.
“You don’t have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step.”
– Martin Luther King, Jr.
This is one of my favorite quotes for reframing how you look at challenges. Often we avoid the things we most want in life because the thought of coming up with a game plan is so daunting, and we begin to fear failure before we’ve even begun because we can’t seem to get the details in place. The thing is that life rarely goes as planned anyway, so you might as well take one small step towards your goal now. If you go into it accepting the fact that you’ll figure it out as you go along, you will actually be able to make some progress.
“You cannot teach humans anything. You can only help them discover it within themselves.”
I believe that there is so much knowledge and wisdom within each of us, but sometimes we need a little help uncovering it. We need to be open and willing to accept the many lessons life throws at us because that it the only way we can truly learn. I think there’s also something powerful in knowing that we do (for the most part) have the solutions to our own problems deep within us. It just takes a little searching to dig it out. If you remember that everything that happens to you is a lesson in some way, you will be able to cultivate a more positive attitude.
“The key to happiness is letting each situation be what it is instead of what you think it should be.”
– Mandy Hale
This is one of the most powerful things I’ve ever read. If we stop wishing we could alter the past and unlatch ourselves from expectations, we can begin to let go of disappointment and regret. Though you can’t change what happens to you, always remember that you are in control of how you react to what happens to you.
“You are as you are until you are not.”
– Jamie Varon
This one was HUGE for me while I was going through a tough time at the beginning of the year. The notion that you will only feel a certain way until you make the decision to stop feeling that way is so powerful. We often forget how much authority we have when it comes to altering our mindset and making decisions that will positively impact our lives. It’s also a pleasant reminder that you won’t feel a certain way forever because nothing is ever permanent.
Now it’s your turn! Share one quote that gets you into a positive mindset!
