How An Unhealthy Obsession Inspired My Mindfulness Journey
Though I talk a lot about mindfulness here on The Blissful Mind, I’ve never shared with you how I started to live more mindfully in the first place. You see, I haven’t always been a mindful person, nor did I become a mindful person overnight. In fact, there’s a slightly unusual reason I became more focused on my own mental wellness.
Today, I’m sharing my mindfulness journey in hopes that it might help you to a) feel less alone in whatever you’re going through and b) recognize how important a healthy mindset is. Watch the video below to see how an *innocent* obsession turned into a wake up call.
My Mindfulness Journey
- In college, I went through a period of being way more concerned with the health of my body (okay, the shape of my body) that led to an obsession with being ‘healthy’
- I realized that even though my body looked healthy, my mind was not healthy
- I started discovering ways to have a healthier mind: dealing with anxiety and stress, thoughts about myself and others, and focusing on valuing myself
- This natural transition from focusing on physical wellness to mental wellness led me to learn more about mindfulness
- Since then, I’ve been a huge mindfulness enthusiast, and The Blissful Mind was created to help others have healthier mindsets (learn more about working with me here)
Lessons Learned From Mindfulness:
- Mindfulness is not a destination, it will always be a journey
- Mindfulness means finding ways to feel content with your life, no matter where you are
- Mindfulness can help you feel calmer and offers a tool to prevent you from feeling overwhelmed by your emotions, anxiety, thoughts, etc.
- Mindfulness helps you find peace with your thoughts, feelings, and worries, whilst feeling confident that you have the ability and strength to do whatever you set your mind to
