7 Ways To Get Organized Before The Busy Season
Thank you to Skillshare for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are my own.
When work starts to get busy, especially after the summer months, it can be hard to stay on top of everything. Trying to manage your time when you have multiple projects, eight to-do lists, and an overflowing inbox often leads to overwhelm and disorganization.
In order to stop a busy season from getting the best of you, it’s important to find tools, systems, and habits that help you stay productive and organized. Most of us are great at planning our time, but we lack the self-discipline to execute our plans.
That’s where Skillshare comes in. Skillshare is an online learning community for creators and entrepreneurially-minded individuals, with more than 20,000 classes in design, business, photography, and more.
I’ve taken Skillshare classes to help me plan my ideal week, develop new habits, organize my budget, and effectively manage my inbox. Most of Skillshare’s classes are between 20-40 minutes long, which makes them the perfect length for your lunch break.
Today, I’m sharing seven of my favorite Skillshare classes to help you organize your life and manage your time well. These are classes that have changed the way I think about time management and how I get work done.
Everyone can take a class, try a project, and even teach a class themselves. Skillshare’s Premium Membership begins around $8 a month for unlimited access to learning, but The Blissful Mind readers can get 2 months of Skillshare for free using this link.
7 Classes to Help You Get Organized
When life gets hectic, it’s so important to stay in control of your calendar and to-do list. In this class, Skillshare co-founder and CEO Michael shares his rules for maximizing productivity, crafting an ideal work week, and building short-term systems for long-term success. Michael provides super helpful tips for daily productivity, like choosing 3 priorities for the day and week. You’ll want to take notes on this class because it’s jam-packed with amazing tips for planning out your day.
When you have healthy habits in your routine, it’s a lot easier to feel like you have your life in order. If you’ve been wanting to create new habits in your life, this class will teach you the fundamental science behind habit formation and how you can implement new behaviors in order to turn them into habits. Catrinel covers the reasons why you might struggle to stick to habits, as well as how you can keep yourself on track by getting clear on the intention behind your habits.
Our email inbox can be one of the most daunting things to deal with on a daily basis. In this class, productivity expert Alexandra teaches a step-by-step process to handle emails efficiently and effectively so you can stop spending so much time in your inbox. After going through this class, you’ll become more intentional with the way you work and your inbox will feel a lot more organized.
Evernote is a tool that I’ve used here-and-there for years, but I’ve never used it to its fullest potential. That definitely changed after taking this class. Evernote Expert Lindsey Holmes talks about creating a core hub to manage your day-to-day life, and Evernote has tons of great features to help you do this. In this class, you’ll learn how to create a custom productivity system in Evernote so you can get more done.
When you’re going through a busy season at work, it’s way too easy to get overwhelmed by your to-do list. This class will teach you how to make your to-do list more effective and less stressful. You’ll learn about different types of lists, how to write effective lists items, and how to integrate to-do lists with your everyday habits. Even if you think you’re a pro at creating to-do lists, this class has super helpful tips to simplify your lists.
If you feel in control of your time, it’s easy to feel a lot more organized. In this class, Dr. Patricia Thompson teaches us how to increase efficiency to get better results at work. My biggest takeaway from this class is that we need to focus on managing ourselves, not just managing our time. Many of us are great at planning, but we fail to execute our plans. Patricia helps you to arrange your schedule and environment to boost your chances of success. Plus, she teaches you how to be more self-disciplined so you can take control of your time.
One of the best ways to get your life organized is to stay on top of your budget. This class will walk you through the process of setting up a simple monthly budget in under 20 minutes so you can figure out exactly where you’re at with your finances. The class also comes with a budget spreadsheet where you can apply everything you learn through the different modules.
