Balance is a word on everyone’s minds these days. Wherever we go, we’re told things like you need to find the perfect work-life balance and moderation is the key to success.

After all, balance helps us feel like we are spending enough time on the important things in our lives, whether that’s doing fulfilling work, staying healthy, or spending quality times with loved ones.

Tired of feeling overwhelmed and unfulfilled with the daily grind? You're need some more balance in your life! Here are five steps to help you create a more balanced life.

While I completely agree that balance is something to strive for in life, it’s not exactly a straightforward or easy path to create for yourself. For starters, balance looks different for everyone. If we keep following other people’s advice for finding balance based on their definitions, the struggle is going to keep being real.

To make balance a little bit more attainable, I’m sharing five steps to help you create more balance in your life based on my method from The Mind, Body, Soul Balance Guide (stay until the end of this post for more info!).

5 Steps To A More Balanced Life

Tired of feeling overwhelmed and unfulfilled with the daily grind? You're need some more balance in your life! Here are five steps to help you create a more balanced life.

Define balance

Since everyone defines balance differently, it’s important to take the time to define what it means for you. What do you think of when you hear the word balance? Perhaps it means living intentionally or spending an equal amount of time between work and play. Ask yourself what it would it actually look like if you were living a balanced life, and use that as a framework to guide you towards more balance.

Listen to yourself

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that balance has a lot to do with the mind, body, and soul connection. To create more balance in your life, think about what you want your mind, body, and soul to feel like on a regular basis. Maybe you want your mind to feel calm, your body to feel energized, and your soul to feel fulfilled. Tapping into what you want to FEEL like is a powerful way to get into more alignment with yourself.

Detox the negative

We all have responsibilities and to-do lists that often take priority over the things that bring us joy. In order to feel more balanced, we need to allow ourselves some dedicated time and space away from the things that drain our energy. Take a look at the things you do daily and try to delegate or remove anything that prevents you from feeling balanced.

Develop supportive habits

The simplest way to add more balance into your life is to do small things daily that nourish your mind, body, and soul. Think about the types of activities and habits that make you feel positive and support you mentally, physically, and spiritually. For example, you could meditate, practice yoga, and journal every day for 10 minutes. The key is to do something daily to intentionally create more balance in your life.

Adjust your mindset

One of things that makes us struggle with balance is thinking that we can achieve balance in one day. It’s important to realize that balance is something that takes practice and dedication. We’re not likely to wake up one day and think, ‘I feel 100% balanced.’ But that’s okay. It’s all about mindfully enjoying the journey and keeping your awareness strong. If you remember this at times when balance starts to feel unattainable, it makes it easier to keep moving forward regardless of any setbacks.

  1. Great article! Balance is definitely something with I struggle with but, as you said, when I understood that it comes with time and practice it became more easy to follow the “stream” of balancing. In other words a balanced life, like Rome, can’t be built in a day and it’s quite cool enjoying the process too! Thanks for sharing!

  2. This was such perfect timing for me! Currently trying to find balance between work and self. It’s been hard to do that in the last few months. Thanks so much for sharing! I love your content <3

  3. Interesting article, but how do you “balance” something you can’t change, like working hours? In an ideal world, I would come home from work 1 or even 2 hours earlier (at 5pm instead of 6:30 or 7) to have more time for other things, but unfortunately that’s not possible, as I can’t work part-time. (It’s not possible on my current position and I couldn’t afford it anyway.) Every time I try to somewhat balance things, like not working overtime, it doesn’t work for more than a few days because there’s something unexpected coming up and lose everything.
