Thank you Tom’s of Maine for sponsoring this post.
Mornings are my favorite time of day. There’s something so magical about waking up and hearing birds chirping outside of the window and feeling the overall sense of calm that mornings bring. Unless, of course, you’ve slept through your alarm but that’s a totally different story.

Since I try to bring as much calm as possible into my daily life, my goal is always to take my mornings slowly, simply, and mindfully.
I’m all about nourishing my mind, body, and soul in the mornings (self-care power hour, anyone?), so I’ve partnered with Tom’s of Maine to share my simple and mindful morning routine with you using their new Luminous White toothpaste.
My Mind, Body, and Soul Morning Routine
At 6:30, my alarm goes off and I have to jump out of bed to turn it off. I always sleep with my phone across the room to force myself to get out of bed in the morning. Most of the time it works. I also sleep with my phone on do not disturb mode so it doesn’t wake me up in the middle of the night.

Once I’m out of bed, I try not to check my emails or social media right away to avoid getting distracted by anything (although, let’s be real, it’s such a struggle not to check everything).
When I’ve finally gotten used to the feeling of being awake, I’ll open my curtains to let in some light and drink a glass of water because I’m always super thirsty when I wake up.
The Power Hour
About a year ago, I shared my self-care power hour method on the blog. The power hour involves spending 20 minutes doing something for your mind, 20 minutes doing something for your body, and 20 minutes doing something for your soul. I still stick to this method (although not necessarily for the full hour), so I thought I’d share how I make this work for my morning routine:
Mind
Lately I’ve had a spurt of motivation when it comes to meditating first thing in the morning. I use the Calm app for guided meditations, and I find myself much more relaxed and centered when I start my day with meditation.

I do my meditations from my bed which sounds dangerous, but I’m usually pretty awake at that point and it gives me the opportunity to snuggle under the covers for a few more minutes.
Body
Three times a week, I do a yoga or resistance band workout. These only last about 20 minutes, and they really help to wake me up and give me some needed energy in the morning. My favorite yoga videos are taught by the one and only Yoga with Adriene because she is the most down-to-earth, relatable yoga teacher I’ve come across.

After that, I’ll take a shower because it’s one more thing that wakes me up in the morning. My hair is usually an oily birds nest in the morning (anyone else?), so I always prefer a morning shower over an evening one.
When it comes to nourishing my body, I try to keep breakfast super simple since I’m usually running behind schedule at this point. My breakfast usually looks like a bowl of oatmeal or some toast with almond butter or smashed avocado.
Soul
After breakfast, I’ll do my skincare, hair, and makeup while watching a YouTube video or listening to a podcast. My favorite YouTube channels to watch right now are Sarah’s Day and Pick Up Limes, and my fave podcasts are The Lively Show, The Chasing Joy Podcast, and At Home With…

I always like to add a dose of inspiration into my mornings, whether it relates to health and wellness or something completely random like fashion or beauty. I feel like this always fills my soul and gets my day started on a positive note.
Getting Ready
After I’ve done my hair and makeup, I’ll head to the bathroom and brush my teeth. From my shower to my makeup, I try to use products with as few harsh chemicals as possible. That’s why I’ve been using Tom’s of Maine’s Luminous White Toothpaste as part of my morning routine.

As we become more conscious about what we put in and on our bodies, the Luminous White whitening toothpaste offers safe, effective whitening with only naturally derived ingredients that work to remove surface stains for whiter teeth in two weeks.
Taking care of my teeth is a big priority of mine after having braces for years and later getting veneers, so I want to protect my teeth as much as possible.

If you’re interested in a natural way to whiten teeth, I’d highly recommend Tom’s Luminous White natural whitening toothpaste because it’s safe on enamel and safe for everyday use. The best thing is that you can find it at your favorite retailers, including Target and Amazon.
After brushing my teeth, I’ll head to my desk and get started with the rest of my day. Overall, I like to think that my morning routine is pretty simple and easy-going, although I’m sure it might be totally different from your idea of simple.
What do your mornings look like?

It’s so hard not to check my phone right away in the morning — it’s something I’m working on though!
Yeah it’s definitely rough! I try to keep notifications off for as many social apps as possible so I’m not tempted to check.
I start off each day with a scripture of the day. Positive affirmations & words of the day help me expand my vocabulary and keep a positive mind set.
I really love that idea of 20 minutes for body, mind and soul! <3 xxx

Hehe the toothpaste is definitely magical!
I always love reading about other people’s daily routines! Right now I have no set routine, but I’m thinking of trying out the “power hour” method next week to see if it will help me focus and get down to business sooner than I usually do :)
Me too! I get lots of ideas and inspiration and then adapt to my own routine :)
I’d love to hear how it goes if you do try it out, Claire! <3
Hi Catherine!
I’ve found the self care power hour method extremely effective in improving my overall mood and energy allowing me to be so much more productive! Day 1 of making a change for myself! Thank you so much for your help and guidance xx
My morning routine includes a 10 min walk with my dog, then reading the Bible or other devotion for 30-45 min. Then I get dressed and head to the local Panera for a visit with a few regulars- wise people 20-30 yrs older than men
Returning home, I make some dinner prep; layered salads for ex, that go with any meals at least one morning a week I bake banana bread because my husband loves it.
Before noon, I either walk for 45 min or play tennis. These are the morning habits that keep me in balance 🙏🥰
