I often get asked by blog readers how I manage to stay positive when the going gets tough. I know this is something we all struggle with, and it can be difficult to see the bright side of life when you feel completely overwhelmed by everything.
I’m not going to lie to you and say that I’m a positive person 100% of the time because that just isn’t realistic, but I am a firm believer in the power of positive psychology and making a conscious effort to shift my mindset away from negativity.

This is one of my favorite quotes for reframing how you look at challenges. Often we avoid the things we most want in life because the thought of coming up with a game plan is so daunting, and we begin to fear failure before we’ve even begun because we can’t seem to get the details in place. The thing is that life rarely goes as planned anyway, so you might as well take one small step towards your goal now. If you go into it accepting the fact that you’ll figure it out as you go along, you will actually be able to make some progress.

I believe that there is so much knowledge and wisdom within each of us, but sometimes we need a little help uncovering it. We need to be open and willing to accept the many lessons life throws at us because that it the only way we can truly learn. I think there’s also something powerful in knowing that we do (for the most part) have the solutions to our own problems deep within us. It just takes a little searching to dig it out. If you remember that everything that happens to you is a lesson in some way, you will be able to cultivate a more positive attitude.

This one was HUGE for me while I was going through a tough time at the beginning of the year. The notion that you will only feel a certain way until you make the decision to stop feeling that way is so powerful. We often forget how much authority we have when it comes to altering our mindset and making decisions that will positively impact our lives. It’s also a pleasant reminder that you won’t feel a certain way forever because nothing is ever permanent.
